Tobacco is the new grey - why you should know the label "DePalma"!

Q: Have you ever been to Omaha?

A: The jacket... or the city?

YEEEEEESSSSS - that's the right answer ;)

If YOU had also given this answer, you probably already know why you can't go past the Swedish company DePalma Workwear when looking for stylish and functional workwear. For all others, this blog entry is ;)

Who is DePalma, anyway?

If you just hack the term "DePalma" into your search engine, you will probably get information about the great American film director Brian Palma first. He might have been the inspiration for the name of the Swedish company, because the label's collection is clearly oriented towards the classic American style.

Take a look at the "Hines" service chino or the "Buffalo" flannel shirt - they could also be worn by a garage worker in a 50s film.

Typical Californian garage chic and street style is everywhere in DePalma's work clothes. We like it a lot, especially since a large part of the collection makes really good leisure wear and doesn't necessarily have to be worn only at work.

We were also thrilled that finally someone has come up with the idea of breaking through the typical grey (at best grey/black) workwear mainstream. That's what the company slogan says:
For a new generation of craftsmen
It is precisely these younger makers, craftsmen, bar staff, DIYers, Youtubers and fashion enthusiasts who should be excited by the mix of function and style:

Excellent quality, robust and durable fabrics, as well as classic design with the typical Swedish sense for clear lines and functional details.
Let's take a closer look at the "Omaha" work jacket as a representative of this approach:The padded jacket has an outer material of 65% polyester and 35% cotton canvas. The lining is made of 100% nylon and has a padding of 3M Thinsulate® .
Together, this makes for a relatively light jacket overall, but one that keeps you nice and warm and whose outer material is unimpressed by typical environments such as construction sites or workshops in all weather conditions.
The canvas-like fabric is especially interesting for carpenters and other trades that have a lot to do with machining: the chips hardly stick to the jacket at all. Accordingly, you don't always spread all the chips around.

When you put the jacket on, you feel right at home. Sizes S - XXL have a normal fit. If you always wear M, it will fit this time too.

The zips feel heavy and of good quality. A look at the manufacturer's website tells you why: they are made by the Japanese company YKK. The front zip is easy to open with one hand and is a 2-way closure: it can be closed from the top, but then also opened again from the bottom for more legroom.

The same high-quality impression is made by the press studs used on the front placket and the breast pockets. Good pressure point - everything securely closed.

In general: the amount of pockets is just right. The side pockets are nice and big and offer space for work materials, sandwiches, mobile phones, insulated cups, whatever :)

The sleeve pockets and breast pockets are of course somewhat smaller, but still spacious and can be closed with a smooth-running zip or the aforementioned press studs.

Unexpected and really practical: an A4 inner pocket where you can also stow folders, building plans, contracts (or tools again...). There is also a small side pocket (with zipper) for a wallet or similar.

Omaha also offers you extra freedom of movement in the shoulder area, so that even overhead work doesn't pull the jacket up and you stay warm. The Omaha is slightly longer at the back than at the front - everything has been thought of here.

What impressed us most of all: the jacket is still pleasantly warm even at temperatures around freezing point.

Many "winter jackets" can't keep up - the 3M Thinsulate insulation does its job here. When you consider that you also move around in the jacket, it becomes clear: at most you need a waistcoat underneath, but then you are also well equipped for everyday working life outside!

We summarise: Goodbye grey! Hello Tobacco!

DePalma brings a breath of fresh air to the world of workwear. Not only does the Swedish collection score visually, but no compromises are made in terms of functionality and quality.

It is also clear that not everyone will - and should - like it. But if you are looking for modern workwear, DePalma Workwear is the place to go.

The collection includes work trousers (Hines, Boss, Grafter), work jackets (Omaha, Anchorage), waistcoats (Factory, Patrol, Outpost), work shirts (Buffalo, Uppity, Bush), work aprons (Seaside), T-shirts, hoodies, hats and caps and leaves nothing to be desired.
