Change hole saws in no time - Starrett Kwik Change Adapter

Do you know this? You need different sizes of hole saws for your project, or different hole saws for the different materials you want to cut...

Depending on the scope of your project, this can be a really fiddly and time-consuming affair. A quick-change adapter that allows you to change your hole saw without tools in no time at all can help. For example, the Kwik Change from the traditional American company Starrett.

How exactly does the Kwik Change System work?

The Starrett Kwik Change System (for example with the A6-4 set) consists of several parts:

A6-Kwik adapter with hexagonal shank
A6-2 adapter for 9/16" - 1-3/16" (14-30 mm) hole saws
A6-3 adapter for 1-1/4" - 6" (32-152mm) hole saws
A015C HSS pilot drill bit
The adapter with the hexagonal shaft (also available as SDS version for SDS drills) is locked into your cordless drill or drill as usual. This provides you with the basis for quickly changing your hole saw.

Next, fit the different hole saws you need, or the ones you simply use more often, with the appropriate adapters.

The A6-2 adapter is for smaller hole saws (14-30mm, or 9/16" - 1-3/16"), the second adapter A6-3 takes hole saws from 32 - 152mm (1-1/4" - 6").

The well thought-out feature of this system: the adapters are of course available individually! So you can simply equip your existing hole saws with the appropriate adapters.

Depending on what you have to cut, you now select the appropriate pilot drill. The supplied A015C pilot drill is an HSS drill (high speed steel) with 6.5 mm ø, which is particularly suitable for harder materials (metal, steel etc).

However, there is also a selection of other pilot drills that fit the Kwik Change system and are available separately.

  • Pull back the chrome ring of the drill chuck to change the pilot drill bit
    Practical: No tools required!
Attention! Pilot drills can be hot after use!

Once the pilot drill has been inserted into the Kwik Change drill chuck, you can attach your hole saw and adapter. To do this, guide the adapter down over the pilot drill and let it click into place.

Releasing the adapter is just as easy: as soon as you press the small button on the adapter, the adapter and the hole saw pop out of the adapter. It couldn't be easier!

We have tried the Kwik Change System with different hole saws and think that it works very well!

The best thing is that you really save a lot of time and can change from one hole saw to another in seconds.

The prices for the adapters are almost negligible and if you use good quality hole saws, you will rarely have to screw the adapters in and out. This is a very interesting system, especially for professionals!
